Turkey Cupcakes (w/kids video tutorial)

Make adorable Thanksgiving turkeys from homemade or store-bought cupcakes and easy-to-find candy decorations. This treat is perfect for the kids to make themselves! –> Don’t miss the video in the recipe card just for kids!

Get the kids into the kitchen, give them the supplies, and let them make these Thanksgiving turkey cupcakes all by themselves. They will love serving them for Thanksgiving dessert or bringing them to school for their teacher.

You’ll love how easy these cupcakes are to make and how easy you can find the supplies. Set up a factory line in the kitchen (and watch out that you don’t lose PB cups from the supply plate :)) and get a batch of these made up in no time at all!

Here is your supply list:

  • Chocolate frosted cupcakes (make or buy–> it doesn’t matter :))
  • Red Icing (I grabbed mine from the grocery store) –1 tube should last for at least 1 dozen.
  • Candy eyeballs (also from the grocery store) — 2 per cupcake.
  • Mini pretzels — 2 per cupcake.
  • Candy Corn — 4 per cupcake.
  • Mini PB Cups — 1 per cupcake.

How to assemble the turkey cupcakes:

  1. Use the red frosting to “stick” the candy eyes to the top of the bottom of the mini PB cups (that sounds confusing. But its not…unwrap the PB cups and the widest part is where the eyes will attach).
  2. Use the red frosting to create a sideways raindrop nose. You’ll want part of the nose to be where the candy corn attaches and becomes the beak and the rest of the red to be the gobbler.
  3. Place the face on the center of your cupcake.
  4. Place 4 to 5 candy corn directly behind the face and 2 mini pretzels behind the candy corn. This will be the turkey feathers.
  5. Very carefully pipe red icing at the front of the cupcake directly in front of the face. These are your turkey legs.
💡 TIP: Use a toothpick to help get your turkey legs nice and neat.
💡 TIP: Use a ziplock bag with the corner cut in a very small hole to substitute for a frosting bag and tip.
